* They are someone who ran for local office, for one reason or another. They give up an enormous amount of time for their public service. They truly want to do a good job.

* They are someone just like you. They have the same family, professional, and money problems that you have.

* They have good days and they have bad days.

* Many of them ran un-opposed. The voters decided that they were better than nobody.

* They are not experts in the field of local government. In extremely small units of government they operate without any professional expertise.

* Their options for solving problems is the lesser of two evils. If you have two good or excellent choices as solutions, you have an opportunity, not a problem. When you have a problem, your choice for solving it, is the lesser of two evils.

* They are amateurs. As amateurs, they make mistakes. They make lots of mistakes. Everyone in public service makes mistakes.

Every good elected official I have ever known, all agree that they would be able to do a better job if more citizens attended meetings and gave their input. Yet, citizens fail to do that, unless and until it is almost too late.

A common complaint of local officials is the the public does not pay attention to issues until the research is far into the process. Public Information Meetings are held. Nobody shows up. The Press reports on the Public Information Meeting and nobody reads the article. Months of Committee Meetings are held discussing possible options and solutions, and nobody listens.

When the issue finally comes to vote, opponents come out of the woodwork claiming the proposal is being shoved down their throat. Tempers flare.

A second reason some citizens won't go to meetings is the fear of not being listened to. There is a big difference between not being listened to and not having local officials agree with you.

* If you play by the rules of the meeting, speak at the appropriate time and have a well prepared statement, you will be listened to. You will be respected.

* If you speak appropriately, and the local officials do not agree with you, that does not mean you were not listened to. What it means is they have a difference of opinion with you. There is a big difference between not being listened to, and not agreeing with you.

So, here are a four suggestions if you wish to become more politically involved at the local level.

1) Attend some meetings just to learn the rules, procedures and players in the local political game. You do not speak at these meetings. You simply learn by observation. You begin to take away the fear factor of not knowing who are local officials.

2) If you believe an issue is important, get involved in the issue at the earliest possible meeting and discussion. The longer you wait to get involved, the less your chance of helping to determine the outcome.

3) When it is time for you to speak on an issue, make sure you know before the meeting, the rules of when to speak, how long you will be allowed to speak and then follow those rules.

4) Write out and PRACTICE your speech. You won't be sorry you did, and neither will the audience who listens to you.

These simple suggestions can go a long way in helping you to become more aware and respected at the local political level.

I will tell you real quick, you cannot buy a home while in a Chapter 7. Banks will not touch you with a ten foot pole, usually for 2 to 3 years. You can buy a home while in a Chapter 13, only if your trustee gives you permission.

Requirements to get a Mortgage while in Chapter 13

1. Must have permission from Trustee
2. Must have a lender willing to finance you FHA
3. Must have a minimum 12 month payment history with Bankruptcy.
4. Cannot have any late payments after bankruptcy is filed
5. Cannot have any collections after bankruptcy is filed.
6. Must have 3 alternate lines of credit.
A. Examples:
a. Letter from electric company stating you have been on time with payment for last 12 months
b. Letter from Phone Company stating you have been on time with payments for the last 12 months
c. Letter from any utility company stating you have been on time with your payments for the last 12 months.

If you are in a chapter 13, and you meet all these requirements you should be able to get financed FHA. The first thing you need to do is pull a recent copy of you free credit report, and make sure you have not had any collections or slow pays on your credit report during bankruptcy.

Soak 250 grams of horse gram (kulthi) in three liters of water at night. Heat it slowly in the next morning for at least 2-3 hours and when one liter is left, remove from the flame. Now warm 30-50 grams of clarified butter (ghee) and add to it. Also add some black pepper (kaali mirch), black salt, cumin seeds (jeera) and turmeric (haldi) in the ghee. Drink this soup once in the afternoon instead of lunch. At least drink 250 grams. The stone will come out by itself in one or two weeks after being broken into pieces. Drink this soup daily. It has no side effects. If after drinking this soup, you are not able to control your hunger then you can take one wheat bread (chapati).

In a glass vessel, soak 20 grams of horse gram (kulthi) in 250 grams of water at night. In the morning mix it with a plastic spoon, and drink on an empty stomach. Now add the same amount of water in the glass containing horse gram and drink in the afternoon. Then add the same amount of water in that and drink in the evening. After drinking water thrice dipped in the same horse gram, add 20 grams of horse gram seeds for the next day. Drinking this water for two to three months and your kidney stone will dissolve and come out. Ayurveda advocates coffee prepared with five grams of tribulus terrestris (gokshura) with one liter of water boiled to one-fourth liter and given twice a day is good for kidneys.

Some yogasanas are beneficial in stones for relief such as uttanapadasana, pavanamuktasana, bhujangasana, danurasana as they stimulate the kidney. Hot water enema with hot bath at 100 degree F to 110 degree F is also advised. The head must be cooled with the paste made of Indian gooseberry. Hot fomentation is done on the kidney to relieve pain and agony. Regular exercise and plenty of water intakes are helpful in reducing the chances of stone formation.

Imagine my surprise when I went online recently and encountered this headline: "Karl Rove's Sly Deal With Fox". Think of a conservative, right-wing political hack with slight-of-hand magic out to pull a fast one over on American voters. You get the picture.

This incredible insight comes from Amanda Terkel and Matt Corley, who sound more like an ice-skating dance teamand now, Terkel and Corley with all of the suspense of Ravel's "Bolero"than highly sought after investigative political commentators.

This duo is letting the voting public know that Fox News political analyst Karl Rove, disguised as a Fox News political analyst, is really "playing a strategic role that he and the network refuse to reveal to viewers."

I was stunned to learn this revelation, not that Rove is playing some hidden role, but that Terkel and Corley think the American viewers are so stupid that they could not possibly figure this out without their brilliant insight.

Terkel and Corley take pains to point out that Fox News introduces Karl Rove as a "former senior advisor to President Bush," the architect," a "political wizard" and a "famed political consultant," noting that he has never been introduced as he should bean informal advisor and maxed-out donor to John McCain's presidential campaign.

Karl Rove is certainly as advertised by Fox News. I suspect that Dick Morris is too, as well as dozens of other spin doctors, talking heads, political consultants, hacks and mouthpieces for either major party and every one in-between.

Do Terkel and Corley really think that Democrats go on television and do not do a candidate's bidding? They give the impression that all Democrats are introduced as a backer of this or that Democratic candidate. This is sheer nonsense.

Viewers who follow politics know that Karl Rove is not on Fox News to read Bible verse to flaming, left-wing liberals. They also know that James Carville and Paul Begala are not on television to read Bible verse to flaming, right-wing conservatives.

Anyone with a modicum of sensibility can identify Sean Hannity as a flaming right-wing conservative and Alan Colmes as a flaming left-wing liberal. Both of these birds are such shills for their party that they really challenge the idea of giving them even a shred of credibility.

Both of them promote polarization in a fit of righteousness for their particular viewpoint, ignoring any understanding or consideration for the other. Their nightly debate is not so much a debate as a shouting match of sarcasm and stupidity. They seem to entertain themselves more than others.

The challenge with the majority of these disclosed and undisclosed political backers on television is that they seem to think that if they granted their opposition even one point in conversation, the would lose all of their credibility. They fail to understand that they have very little credibility to begin with.

Barack Obama, John McCain, Hillary Clinton and all of the associated parties around them are about as important as I think they areno more and no less. I will decide whom to vote for and why, and feel very comfortable doing it without a song and dance from Terkel and Corley, or anyone else.

It is like watching a televised presidential debate, and then all of the commentators come on immediately and tell me what and how I am supposed to think about a candidate's performance. Their arrogance astounds me.

These commentators treat voters like we are silly, immature 9 to 13-year-old children without a brain in our head or the ability to use it.
